Da sa niekde nastavit, pripadne existuje nejaky jednoduchy sposob ako v sablone

{$promenna|date:„l“} zobrazit dni po cesky?

Nastav si locales na češtinu. Máš to napsané i v manuálu:

Ale na locale bacha! Na některých serverech (včetně toho mého) je to chová dost nestabilně…
